Dance - Manipuri

Manipuri dance form originated in Manipur, one of the north-eastern
state of India. The dance style is associated with rituals and
traditional festivals depicting tales of the Gods - Siva, Parvathi,
Krishna.
The festival Lai Haraoba (meaning - the merrymaking of the gods) is
performed as a ceremonial offering of song and dance. The principal
performers are the maibas and maibis (priests and priestesses) who
re-enact the theme of the creation of the world.
